Shashikumar is in the fourth year of his Ph.D. at the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta. His work focuses on the radical history of Dalit literature and movement in Karnataka. In a professional career of over a decade, he was associated with Oxford University Press India and Central Institute of Indian Languages(CIIL), Government of India, in editorial capacities. He has also taught summer language courses offered by the American Institute of Indian Studies(AIIS). His forthcoming book, "Critical Discourse in Kannada", will be published by Routledge.

He has been associated with CAUA since its inception. He has also been an active member of the IBPoC group at UofA. He will serve as the Head of the Education and Outreach Working Group.
